MeTrail uses iOS background visit mechanism and geofencing to detect arrivals/departures. Only with "Always"+"Precise Location" will the system continue sending events when your device is locked. This system-level scheduling only wakes the app when cellular or Wi-Fi changes significantly, using just 3-5% battery daily.
Reminders depend on system push services and in-app notification panels. Please check: 1. iOS Settings > MeTrail > Notifications: Enable Allow Notifications; 2. Focus Mode: Add MeTrail to allow list; 3. In-app settings: Turn on arrival/departure notification switches.
Multiple backup methods supported: 1. Built-in export: Choose CSV/TXT/JSON/GPX/KML formats; 2. iCloud sync: Automatically syncs to your private iCloud space after enabling; 3. iCloud Drive backup: Can backup attachments and export files.
All journeys, locations, and attachments are stored in encrypted device sandbox. Unless you actively share, no one (including developers) can read them. With iCloud sync enabled, data is end-to-end encrypted to your private iCloud space.
Use location details and maintenance tools for precise correction: 1. In location details, select "Adjust Position" and drag pin to correct coordinates; 2. For large areas, set "Flexible Boundary" to expand radius; 3. Use "Reverse Geocoding" to refresh addresses.
The system's "visit recording" mechanism works as "arrive immediately, fill stay time after departure". Departure notifications generally require arriving at another location and staying briefly before being written—this is by design to confirm actual departure.
Common when active in large venues like malls, amusement parks, campuses. Solutions: 1. Use "Merge Similar Journeys" function; 2. Set flexible boundary to expand geofence radius for large venues; 3. Delete duplicate records directly, statistics will recalculate automatically.
Supports 5 formats: 1. CSV: Tabular format for Excel analysis; 2. TXT: Plain text for quick viewing; 3. JSON: Structured data for development processing; 4. GPX: GPS track format for professional map software; 5. KML: Google Earth format for geographic display.
Uses pagination + lazy loading, only loading needed days at a time, never loading all records into memory. App size is about 80 MB; attachments take the main space, which can be regularly cleaned or backed up via iCloud Drive.
